If you've decided to move to France and have chosen a department to call home, you may need to think about your visa requirements.

France is a member of the European Union (EU), which means that if you're a citizen of an EU/EEA member state, you've the right to move to France under the Freedom of Movement Act. However, if you're a citizen of the UK, you'll need to check the French government's Accueil des Étrangers website for the latest visa requirements following the UK's decision to leave the EU in 2016.

If you aren't from an EU/EEA country, you may need a visa to France even for a short period of time. However, the requirements depend on your nationality. So make inquiries in advance to avoid disappointment. For a stay of more than 90 days, non-EU/EEA citizens must apply for a French long-term visa (visa long de séjour) and a residence permit.

If you really are not sure exactly where you should live then maybe it would be good to rent for a while, again areas differ in rental prices but it will give you a good idea if this area is right for you and your family.
